Airnet and Airpur are CH Química’s two products for air conditioning maintenance, and they are almost always used together. But they do not do the same thing: Airnet cleans the dirt from the coil and filters, and Airpur disinfects and eliminates bad odours. In this post we explain the differences between Airpur and Airnet, which version of each you need and in what order they are applied.
Why you need both
Bad odours from air conditioning are caused by the fungi and bacteria that grow on the coil, the tray and the ducts, on the dirt left by the airflow. That is why the treatment has two steps: first the dirt is removed and then the clean surface is disinfected. We explain this in more detail on the product page for the AIRPUR SPRAY air conditioning air freshener.
What is the difference between Airpur and Airnet
The difference lies in what each one does and when it is applied:
| Airnet | Airpur | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Degreasing cleaner based on polyalcohol solvents and anti-corrosion inhibitors | Bactericide and fungicide that eliminates bad odours (the PRO version is also virucidal) |
| What it removes | Dust, grease, nicotine and the dirt left by the airflow | Fungi, bacteria and the odours they produce |
| Where it is applied | Filters and coil (evaporator) | Coil and air circuit, once clean |
| When | First | Afterwards |
Which version of Airnet and Airpur you need
| Use | Airnet | Airpur | As a kit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domestic and office split units | AIRNET SPRAY | AIRPUR SPRAY | AIRNET & AIRPUR SPRAY |
| Installers and professional maintenance | AIRNET PRO | AIRPUR PRO (applied by specialist personnel) | AIRNET & AIRPUR PRO KIT |
| Car air conditioning | AIRNET SPRAY AUTO | AIRPUR SPRAY AUTO | AIRNET & AIRPUR auto |
| Ducts | — | AIRPUR SPRAY AutoDuct | — |
The whole range is in our air conditioning cleaning category.

Airpur: odour eliminator and disinfectant for air conditioning
Airpur is an odour eliminator with bactericidal and fungicidal action (the PRO version is also virucidal). It is applied directly to the coil and internal components of the air conditioner, where it acts on the microorganisms responsible for bad odours. It does not mask the odour: it eliminates it by attacking its cause.
Its formula acts as a highly effective odour neutraliser: it destroys the bacteria and fungi that cause them and leaves a fresh, clean environment without leaving aggressive residues on the components of the unit.
Airnet: deep cleaner for regular maintenance
Airnet is a cleaner based on polyalcohol solvents and anti-corrosion inhibitors. It is used to clean the filters, the grilles and the evaporator coil, and removes the dust, grease and nicotine left by the airflow without scrubbing. By removing that dirt, which is where microorganisms grow, it prevents bad odours from building up.
Benefits of using Airpur and Airnet
Effective odour elimination at the source
Airpur does not cover up the odour with perfume: it eliminates the bacteria and fungi that cause it and then leaves a mild fragrance. That is why the result lasts and the odour does not come back within hours, as happens with air fresheners that only perfume the air.
Improved performance and energy savings
A clean evaporator exchanges heat more efficiently. By removing the layer of dirt and residues with Airnet, the air conditioning needs less effort to reach the desired temperature, which translates into lower electricity consumption and a longer service life for the unit.
Healthier indoor air
A dirty air-conditioning unit recirculates bacteria, fungi and allergens throughout the room. By keeping the system clean with Airpur and Airnet, indoor air quality is improved and the risk of allergies, respiratory irritation and other conditions related to microbiological air contamination is reduced.
How to use Airnet and Airpur, in this order
1. Clean with Airnet
- Open the cover of the split unit and remove the filters.
- Clean the filters with AIRNET SPRAY, leave it to act for about 30 seconds and rinse with water; leave them to dry.
- Switch the unit on in cooling mode and spray AIRNET SPRAY onto the front and top of the coil, from 15–20 cm away, until saturated.
- Leave it to act for about 15 minutes: the dirt runs out through the condensate tray to the drain.

2. Disinfect with Airpur
- With the unit still running, spray AIRPUR SPRAY onto the coil in the same way, until saturated.
- Leave the unit running so that the product spreads throughout the circuit.
- Put the filters back once they are dry.
- Do not spray either product onto electrical or electronic parts.

With the AIRNET & AIRPUR SPRAY kit you have both aerosols together. In professional maintenance the process is the same with the AIRNET & AIRPUR PRO KIT. You will find the complete guide, including the outdoor unit, in how to clean and disinfect a split air conditioner.
Additional recommendations for air-conditioning maintenance
- Clean the filters every two to four weeks during periods of intensive use. Clogged filters are the main source of bad odours.
- Disinfect with Airpur at the start and end of each season: before summer and before winter, when the unit has not been used for weeks, microorganisms have had time to proliferate.
- Annual inspection by a technician: an annual professional check ensures that the internal components, the refrigerant circuit and the electrical connections are in perfect condition.
- Keep the outdoor unit clean: remove leaves, dust and obstructions around the outdoor unit to ensure adequate ventilation of the condenser.
Conclusion
Keeping the air conditioning clean and free of bad odours is essential to ensure its optimum operation and indoor air quality. Airpur and Airnet are complementary and effective solutions: Airnet cleans and prevents, Airpur neutralises odours and disinfects. Incorporating them into the unit’s maintenance routine makes it possible to enjoy a healthier environment, extend the service life of the air conditioner and reduce electricity consumption.
Frequently asked questions about Airpur and Airnet
What is the difference between Airpur and Airnet?
Airnet is a cleaner designed for the regular maintenance of air conditioning: it removes dust and residues from the filters, grilles and evaporator fins. Airpur is an odour eliminator with bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal action that acts on the microorganisms responsible for bad odours. Ideally they should be used together: Airnet for regular physical cleaning and Airpur for disinfection and odour elimination.
How often should Airpur be used to remove odours from air conditioning?
It is recommended to apply Airpur at the beginning and end of each season of use —before summer and before winter— or whenever bad smells appear when the unit is started up. In environments with a high flow of people or in very humid climates, it may be necessary to increase the frequency of application.
Are Airpur and Airnet safe for all types of air conditioning?
Yes. Airpur and Airnet are formulated specifically for air-conditioning equipment and are safe for the materials commonly found in air conditioners: aluminium, copper, plastic and steel. They contain no corrosive components that could damage the evaporator fins or the plastics of the unit.
How can you neutralise strong air-conditioning odours for good?
To neutralise strong odours in the air conditioning for good, it is necessary to act on the cause and not just the symptom. The correct process is: first clean the filters and the evaporator with Airnet to remove dirt and residues, and then apply Airpur to destroy the bacteria and fungi responsible for the odour. If the odour is very intense or persistent, it may be a sign that the unit needs a professional technical inspection to check the condition of the internal circuit.
Is Airpur also suitable for car air conditioning?
Yes, but for cars there is a specific kit, AIRNET & AIRPUR auto: AIRNET SPRAY AUTO cleans the ducts and the evaporator using a cannula inserted through the air vents, and AIRPUR SPRAY AUTO, a total-release aerosol, eliminates bad odours from the passenger compartment.
