Hand sanitising gels have become one of the great allies in the fight against coronavirus, given the need to wash our hands at all times and not always having soap and water close at hand to do so. In fact, national and international bodies recommend washing your hands with soap and water or keeping an alcohol-based hand gel always available because good hand hygiene helps us prevent the transmission of the disease. At CH Química we have developed a hand sanitising gel for daily use called H-GEL, with which we want to help you prevent the spread of coronavirus and other diseases.
What are the symptoms of coronavirus and how can they be avoided?
The most common symptoms of coronavirus are cough, fever and, in some cases, shortness of breath, among others. To avoid both mild and severe cases of coronavirus, it is important to prevent transmission of the disease, as this usually occurs when we come into contact with secretions such as the cough or sneeze of a person infected with the virus.
Therefore, the only route of coronavirus infection is direct, through the mouth, eyes or nose. For this reason, the key to avoiding any type of infection is to maintain proper hand hygiene using soap and water or a disinfectant gel, avoiding at all times touching our mucous membranes with fluids carrying the virus.
How to prevent coronavirus infection by using hydroalcoholic gels
The most effective measure for preventing the spread of any type of illness affecting the respiratory tract, whether flu or coronavirus, is proper hand hygiene. To make this cleaning efficient and effective, it is advisable to have a disinfectant gel such as H-GEL, which guarantees perfect hand hygiene without the need for water or soap at any time of day. A small amount of gel on the palm of the hand, rubbed in lightly until it evaporates, is all it takes to get clean, soft hands. It contains an alcohol concentration suitable for effective cleaning (70% v/v) and can be obtained through our website in 1 and 5 litre containers.
Recommendations for safe use of hand sanitising gel
Hydroalcoholic gels and solutions are now part of our basic kit for fighting coronavirus, as they are used as a preventive measure to avoid transmission. But with their increased use, a very significant increase in accidental poisonings from them has also been detected. For that reason, to avoid this type of accident and to encourage the safe use and storage of these products, a series of recommendations must be followed:
- Apply the gel with dry hands and do not wash your hands after use.
- Avoid applying hand sanitiser gels to people who are sensitive to their components. Their use can increase the risk of skin injuries such as irritant dermatitis or allergic contact dermatitis. That is why they must always be applied to healthy skin.
- Always keep these products away from heat sources such as direct sunlight, hot surfaces, open flames, sparks or any source of ignition.
- Avoid smoking immediately after using these gels or solutions, or in places where they are stored, because of the fire hazard due to their high ethanol content.
- Store them in a well-ventilated, cool place, avoiding areas where significant temperature changes occur.
- In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water for several minutes. It is very important to do this straight after contact, as any delay in applying water can aggravate eye injuries or burns. If irritation persists, consult a doctor.
- Alcohol-based hand gels must be kept out of the reach of children. And, if children need to use it, this must always be under adult supervision.
